i was depressed a long time.. and was on meds (zoloft & trazadone) for 3 years.. didnt work, i lived in a fog and actually lost a whole year of my life, i have no memories from that time. i finally took myself off the meds (not recommended) cause i was on those two plus birth control, anti inflamitories, pain killers, and iron.. it was too much on my system. i have been med free for 2 years but would like to go back on the low dose of trazadone at night so i can sleep. depression is so difficult though because people think you are crazy nobody understands it

I haven't started any meds yet as we are trying to get pregnant again and I don't want to do anything to hurt an unborn baby. But as soon as we have a healthy child I will be looking into the things I can take to at least ease some of the symptoms

i was put on anti-depressents, though i dont feel depressed, yea i get down. but.... the doc put my on amitriplines.. and i was like a walking zombie, and cried if some one said Hiya, if thats not depresssed i dont know what is... being on pain killers makes me feel worse, over the last few days i been getting dizzy spells and taken the norm pain killer which i think makes me feel worse.... blagh , i try to ster clear of anti-depressents.. and birth control, two meds i do not agree with they mess with your mind and body!!! and they deffo' dont agree with me, i turn into jekal...!!!! i only take pain pills if im real desperate and cant take the pain no-more and my wheat bags and baths dont help... i stear clear as i want to try and avoid another mis-hap that others suffer is IBS...(also i get preminisions and ive seen my self some where in the future taking the whold bottle of pills, so i avoid pills cos i dont know weather the preminision will happen) though yesss i do sometimes get down as any other, and im terrible when i am as i drink... the odd bottle of wine, which ive also tried cutting down when i found out my dad died from the booooze.... but like any drug its addictive!!!

Many people tell me to go the herbal route and when I say they can be ahrmful to a pregnancy as well they look at me like I have 2 heads. They say things like it is all natural how can that be dangerous? Then I get the comments or looks like there is nothing really wrong or you would be more willing to do something about it. They just don't understand that my willingness to have a healthy baby outweighs the problems I have right now.

herbals are usually natural, but yesss you do have to still be carefull, and if you wish to take things be sure you know its safe by asking the Doc,
folic acid is good to take.. and is in many breakfast cerials...

every woman of childbearing years should be taking folic acid, it prevents neural tube defects (spinal bifida amongst other things) as for herbals being natural.. well so is aspirin (it comes from willow or birch, or some kind of tree) and so is alcohol (vodka is made from potatos) so just cause something is natural does not mean its good or good in large amounts i try to stay away from alcohol because i cant really handle it, but the occasional beer is ok with me. as for meds.. i was on a birth control that had depression as a side effect, and then had to take anti-depressants that caused insomnia, then had to take something so i could sleep! thats when i stopped taking all of it.. now i take an occasional paracetamol when i have a mild headache (doesnt work on migraines)

I have been taking prenatal vitamins which contain folic acid since before I was preg with my son. I had stopped for a few weeks after he was delivered and when I started them again I felt a small change in that my bad days didn't seem as bad and the good days were more frequent.
